Skullcandy HQ, Park City, Utah
Skullcandy is a leading audio brand that reflects the collision of music, fashion and action sports lifestyles. Born in Park City, Utah, Skullcandy innovators of the headphone industry since inception in 2003 hold strong ties with the local community.
Skullcandy believe the company was conceived with the influence of the community that inspired it. Profits from products sold locally to Utah customers are reinvested back into local community programs, athletics and the arts in Park City, including the Legacy Music Alliance, the National Ability Centre and the Utah Olympic Legacy to name but a few.
â¨Consequently when it came to updating the in-house audio system at Skullcandy HQ, it made complete sense to Tony Gibson, Facilities Manager at Skullcandy to call in the design assistance of Wes Garrett, General Manager of Cloud Electronics USA, also based in Park City.
“The changing needs of the public company require that all employees are able to participate in a monthly corporate event. We now gather all 180 (and growing) employees once a month and we decided to use our audio system to bring the group together”, describes Tony Gibson.
Flexibility is also critical to the design of the audio system as Wes Garrett explains “Zoning the audio system in the way we have, using a Cloud Z8 MK3 Zone Mixer, allows the audio system to be used as a single zone, for example when the CEO presents to the whole team or as separate zones when each division with the company needs to work in breakout groups”.
“Since it is Skullcandy, there is a huge emphasis on music and lifestyle”, continues Garrett, “which often means a visiting DJ will plug into the system directly for an artist outreach event with the marketing department or they can connect a multi-media presentation. Using a Cloud LM-2 Wall Input plate in each zone provides each department with control over their own zone and their music, so if an impromptu skate event occurs in the IT department the athletes can connect and crank their playlist for some musical motivation”.
